YuWen Huang is a Taiwanese pianist whose artistry is marked by emotional depth, stylistic clarity, and a thoughtful approach to interpretation. With a particular affinity for Lied and chamber music, she brings both sensitivity and structure to her performances, always in search of the musical narrative behind each phrase.
Her musical path began at the age of three and led her from Taiwan to Germany, where she deepened her artistic identity. She holds two master’s degrees with distinction: in Solo Piano from the Leopold Mozart Centre at the University of Augsburg, and in Liedgestaltung (Art Song Interpretation) from the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. Influential mentors on this journey have included Hans-Christian Wille, Arne Torger, Rudi Spring, Christian Gerhaher, and Gerold Huber.
YuWen’s concert activity spans solo recitals, chamber music, and song collaborations. She is a founding member of the Lied duo Le più spiritose and the piano-cello duo Dolce Forza. Her performances have taken place on both prominent stages and intimate venues throughout Germany and Taiwan, including performances at venues ranging from theaters to historic halls such as Schloss Seefeld and the Friedberger Altstadtfest.
In May 2024, YuWen released her debut solo album women only on CD through the audiophile label Acoustical Systems. A carefully curated selection of piano works by female composers of the 19th and 20th centuries, the album was praised for its nuanced interpretation and refined sound quality. A vinyl edition has since also been released, offering a rich analog dimension to the project.
She is a former recipient of the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Augsburg scholarship and has performed extensively in outreach and benefit concerts as part of the program.
YuWen is especially drawn to hidden gems of the repertoire, giving voice to music that lies beyond the mainstream canon. For her, artistic exploration is an ongoing dialogue between past and present.
